So, Niamey’s main language is French. Although we are only committing to a two year term so French is not mandatory for us. We decided to look into it as we thought it would help make our transition to the culture a little bit easier.
Last spring, I applied for a grant for my education. After receiving it, I found out I couldn’t use it in Alberta. Since I was taking all my education through Lethbridge College, I have left it unused. I decided to see if there were any French classes here that we could take. Unfortunately, they were already started. So, I looked into getting a tutor. Can I just say, living by faith is definitely exhilarating! Not only is there someone in the valley to give us French tutoring lessons, but the grant is covering the cost. How awesome is that! God is a good God…. yes He is!
So, our French lessons will start Wednesday, February 22. Brianna is already ahead of all of us as she has been in Intensive French this year at school. She has already been educating and helping us out. Rebekah has also begun a handle on French as she has french class twice a week. So far Stacy and I are good with:
Bonjour
Au revoir
Pourquoi…..Stacy’s personal favourite, getting even with Brianna for the many times she asked us why as a toddler.
Merci
Je vous en pree
