It is hard to believe that we have completed our first term of school and now we are quickly approaching the end of our fall break.
As school wrapped up before our break, we participated in Spirit week. This is a week when we dress up each day based on a different daily theme. The week ends with us dressing in school colours and leading into the NUTS softball tournament. Here are a few pictures from our week of fun.
Brianna on rubbish day, dressing like something you might find in a trash can…..
One day was movie day and as a class you were to chose a movie and dress the part. Rebekah’s class chose Alice in Wonderland…. she was very, very late!
Then it was a weekend of softball. Stacy played 5 games. Unfortunately his team didn’t win the tournament but they had a lot of fun. It was a HOT weekend and we are thankful that there were no major injuries and side effects from the heat.
Our weekend ended with a fantastic Canadian Thanksgiving Celebration. What an amazing community we live in. We had the opportunity to gather with over 30 fellow Canadians. Our meal was almost traditional… chicken instead of turkey. THe dessert table was my personal favourite and not just because there was an amazing spread of desserts….3 that were gluten free too :). No, the dessert table was my favourite because it was obvious that we live in Africa, notice the Mobil tin (insect repellent for cockroaches etc.) that were used and placed on the dessert table. I love it!
As I sit here now, I am overcome with gratitude for all that I have. For the community I live in. For the opportunity I have been given to be here in Africa. For the crazy amounts of food we have to eat. For rest. For warmth. For electricity. For internet. For time as a family. For sleep. For an amazing lady that helps me maintain our house. For friends. For forgiveness and grace. For hope. For health. For air conditioners. For laughter. For I Love Lucy DVD’s. For Tea. For computers. For sewing machines. For washing machines………
